Abstract
In The Act of Reading, Wolfgang Iser studies the significative constitution of literary text in the conscience. Husserl’s concept of passive synthesis is the key to Iser’s assertion that sense (Sinn) constitution is made during reading by means of the analysis of the images produced by such synthetic work, which have the attribute of expressing the significance that literal language in the text is unable to tell. Even though Iser turns as well to important thinkers as Sartre or Ryle, we sustain that it is possible to fulfill most of the theoretical justifications directly from Husserl.
